The Danish Embassy participated today in the launch of the book "Denmark-Cyprus: When the Vikings met Aphrodite," which tells the story of the relationship between Denmark and Cyprus over the years.
The book is the product of a collaboration between the Cypriot Foreign Ministry and the University of Cyprus and is part of the research program "Eurodaktylios" which aims at creating a database of information on the relationship between Cyprus and other EU countries.
In her speech Danish Ambassador Kirsten Geelan said that the book is dedicated to the thousands of Danish peacekeepers who came to the island in the hour of need and for whom the island, its beauty and people remains special! Those bonds, she added, and their experiences and personal stories are perhaps the most important part of the tapestry of Danish-Cypriot relations.
